ECONOMY:

There are broadly-speaking three main elements to the American Samoan economy: public sector, private sector and two tuna canneries. Each of these elements takes up pretty much the same number of the island's employment. The two tuna canneries export hundreds of millions of dollars worth of tinned tuna to the United States. The public sector element of the economy is mainly made up of the American Samoan government.

Tourism to the island is also a source of income. If planning travel to American Samoa, it might be worth looking into local customs and traditions as there are some which if not adhered could cause offence to local inhabitants.
