Most major credit cards are accepted although Visa is slightly easier than others. ATMs are also widely available in Brazil.
CURRENCY EXCHANGE:
Currency exchange is easy in Brazil, with banks, hotels, cambios and travel agencies all able to offer this service.
TRAVELLER'S CHEQUES:
Best in US Dollars. It is possible that you receive a discount for using traveller's cheques in restaurants and hotels. Foreign tourists are not able to exchange US traveller's cheques for US banknotes.

Local currency: import restricted to reasonable amount of bank notes. Export is restricted to that currency which has been imported minus your expenses during time spent in Brazil. Foreign currency: import of bank notes unlimited. Export as per local currency.
