COUNTRY OVERVIEW:

Ecuador is a country in South America which also includes the Galapagos Islands. The name "Ecuador" comes from the fact that it is literally on the equator. The capital is Quito, but the largest city is Guayaquil. The official language here is Spanish.

Around 13 million.

ECONOMY:

The agriculture of Ecuador is rich and includes flowers, coffee, bananas, cocoa, sugar, tropical fruits, rice, corn, palm oil and palm hearts. In addition to this the natural resources found here are fish, gold, petroleum and timber. Ecuador adopted the US dollar as its official currency in 2000 in order to tackle economic crisis.
