COUNTRY OVERVIEW:

Estonia's full name is the Republic of Estonia and is situated in Northern Europe. One of its borders is on the Baltic Sea. It is closely associated with one of its neighbouring countries, Finland, and indeed the Estonians are a 'Finnic' people. It is part of the EU but has not yet adopted the Euro. The capital is Tallinn and the official language is Estonian.

POPULATION:

Around 1 million.

ECONOMY:

The central bank of Estonia is the Bank of Estonia, and it issued the country's country's currency - the kroon - at the end of the 1920s. The country is known as being stable and even is known as one of the 'Baltic Tiger' countries, due to it's healthy growth at the end of the 1990s up to around 2007. Estonia has worked hard to be something of a bridge between the East and West in Europe and has made much reform and integration with the West since independent from the USSR. It even managed to gain status as one of the strongest countries of the EU since joining in 2002.
