Import and export of local currency is limited to ETB 100 per person. Import and export of foreign currency is unlimited provided declared.

COUNTRY OVERVIEW:

Ethiopia's full name is the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. It is a country in the Horn of Africa. One of its borders is shared with Eritrea, a country with whom it has had many years of conflict. Ethiopia is known as one of the oldest countries in the world, and some of the oldest traces of mankind have been found there. The capital and largest city is Addis Ababa.

ECONOMY:

According to some sources, Ethiopia has one of the fastest growing economies of the world. Problems persist however, such as drought and political issues, which have slowed progress. The main element of the economy is coffee - Ethiopia is where the first coffee bean came from - and is the largest export commodity. The country is also one of the largest producers of livestock in the world.
