COUNTRY OVERVIEW:

Finland is officially called the Republic of Finland and is a Nordic country. The capital is Helsinki and the official languages are Finnish and Swedish. Historically part of Sweden and then part of the Russian Empire, the country declared independence in 1917 which caused civial war followed by wars against the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. Finland joined the EU in 1995.

ECONOMY:

The economy of Finland is highly industrialized and operates under a free market system. A key sector is manufacturing, second to the services sector. The country has many other elements such as natural resources paper factories and agriculture sectors. It has been ranked as the second most stable country in the world.
