Cash is preferable as credit cards cannot be relied upon anywhere in Kosovo. The most likely to be accepted (if at all) will be MasterCard and Visa. There is a limited amount of ATM machines available which will accept international credit cards.

There are currency exchange services available at official exchange offices. Most exchanged currencies are the Euro and US dollar. - Note the Pound Sterling is not used much.

Kosovo is a country in South East Europe, surrounded by Central Serbia, Albania and Montenegro, and the Republic of Macedonia. The capital is Pristina. Note: it may be worth checking your government homepage before travelling to Kosovo as it has a high crime rate which has risen since the Kosovo War. There are still possible risks from landmines.

The economy of Kosovo is very weak and is one of the least developed in Europe. The unemployment rate is around 40% or higher, and the industrial sector is also lacking in development.
