The Republic of Lithuania is located in Northeast Europe and is one the the three Baltic states. Lithuania was also the first of the Soviet republics to declare independence. The capital is Vilnius and the official language is Lithuanian.

Lithuania has one of the fastest growing economies in the EU. It is ranked as having a high average income. The infrastructure is well-developed and modern. Lithuania is planning to join the Euro single currency in the next few years.
