ATM machines are mostly found in tourist areas but major credit cards are accepted widely.

There are foreign exchange services at the usual locations: banks, bureaux de change and airports. Note that the easiest currency to exchange is the US dollar.

Not recommended as only some banks will be able to change these.

Nicaragua is officially called the Republic of Nicaragua and is a country in Central America. It is just above the Equator. Once a colony of Spain, was declared independent in 1821. The capital is Managua and the official language is Spanish.

POPULATION:

Around 6 million.

ECONOMY:

The main element of Nicaragua's economy is agriculture and the greatest proportion of its exports are agricultural. Both beef and tobacco are two key products, as is rum which is widely regarded as the finest in Latin America. Tourism is also a factor as are other industries including banking and mining. Nicaragua is a very poor nation and a proportion of the population live on less than $1 a day.
