Currency exchange is available at banks and bureaux de change. Check in advance if unsure on rates, as some banks charge commission and charges on amounts less than €25. Note there are many ATM machines which carry the MultiBanco symbol MB, and these only charge 1 to 2% commision.

TRAVELLER'S CHEQUES:

These are widely exchanged and are best in Euros.

BANKING HOURS:

Mon-Fri 0830-1500. Note many banks in the capital open until 1800.

Export of gold, silver and other valuables is limited to a value of €149.64 and may be subject to conditions - check in advance.
