Qatar is officially called the State of Qatar and is an Arab emirate in South West Asia. Qatar was one of the first countries to convert to Islam. Its capital is Doha and the official language is Arabic.

Qatar has the highest GDP per capita in the world due to its oil-rich status. Oil was discovered there in the 1940s, and before that the main elements of the economy were pearling and fishing. Now it has around 15 billion barrels of oil, and also exports natural gas.
