Best at bureaux de change in the capital and the easiest currencies to exchange are US dollars, Euros and GBP. Make sure you check the rates in advance.

Not recommended as these are rarely accepted outside the capital.

Mon-Fri 0800-1200 and 1400-1800. Banks are open until lunchtime on Saturdays.

Most of the population rely on subsistence farming. Coffee is a major cash crop. The 1994 genocide in Rwanda caused disaster for the economy and the infrastructure. Since then, the situation has improved and export markets have grown.
