NOTE: Rp500, 100, 50, 25 and 10.

COIN: Rp5 and 1, and 25, 10, 5 and 1 cents.

Note visitors must pay for hotel bills in foreign currency.

Most major credit cards are accepted with ease and there are some ATM machines in main town.

CURRENCY EXCHANGE:

You can use foreign exchange facilities at banks at the airport. You can also do this at banks. Makes sure you keep the currency exchange receipt.

TRAVELLER'S CHEQUES:

These are best in US dollars and Sterling and these are accepted widely.

BANKING HOURS:

Mon-Fri 0830-1430 Banks are open until 1130 on Saturdays.

Seychelles is officially called the Republic of Seychelles and is an archipelago in the Indian Ocean. It has the smallest population of all African states. The capital is Victoria and the official languages are English, French and Seychellois Creole.

ECONOMY:

Growth to the Seychelles has been large since its independence in 1976, and this is largely thanks to tourism and tuna fishing. The government encourages foreign investment and is working on building those sectors not related to tourism. The Seychelles is the smallest nation in the world that issues its own currency.
