COUNTRY OVERVIEW:

The Republic of Sudan is located in North East Africa, the largest country in Africa. It has been historically and politically linked with Egypt. There are both Black Africans and Arab Muslims in Sudan and there has been much civil war between both sides of the country. According to rankings, Sudan is the second most unstable country in the world - visitors please check tourist board and government homepages before travel there. The capital is Khartoum and the official languages are Arabic and English.

ECONOMY:

There are many problems facing the Sudan economy thanks to the unrest there. It has exported crude oil and this is its main export and this is increasing in production. There are mineral resources in Sudan too. Agriculture is the most important economic sector and employs the greatest proportion of the workforce.
