CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS AND ATMS:

The main credit cards are accepted, though they are not widely used. There are ATM machines in larger towns.

CURRENCY EXCHANGE:

This is easiest done at banks and bureaux de change.

TRAVELLER'S CHEQUES:

These are not recommended outside outside the Kampala is it is unlikely they will be accepted. If necessary, these are best in US dollars or Sterling.

BANKING HOURS:

Mon-Fri 0830-1400 Sat 0900-1200. Foreign exchange bureaux are open until 1700 and you can carry out electronic transfer to abroad from there.

CURRENCY RESTRICTIONS:

Import and export of local currency is prohibited.

Officially called the Republic of Uganda, this country is found in East Africa. A fair amount of Lake Victoria is part of Uganda. The capital is Kampala and the official languages are English and Swahili.

ECONOMY:

There are many natural resources in Uganda, and there are reserves of oil and natural gas which have not yet been tapped. Agriculture is the main element of the economy of Uganda. There are issues hampering the further development of Uganda's economy - such as involvement in the war on the Democratic Republic of the Congo and an allegedly corrupt government.
