The United Arab Emirates are rich in oil and natural gas. The economy is growing on a rapid scale. Other sectors of the economy have been worked upon so that there is not too much reliance on natural resources, though these still make up an important part of the economy. The UAE are home to the largest artificial islands in the world - the Palm Islands. Tourism is becoming increasingly important to the economy.
