Venezuela is officially called the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and is in South America, on the northern coast. It was once a colony of Spain. Part of its name is from Simon Bolivar, who won the Battle of Carabobo in 1821 and therefore the country was liberated. The capital is Caracas and the official language is Spanish.
