1. Home emergency – provides cover up to £150 to make your home safe after an emergency like a burst pipe or break in
2. Alternative accommodation provided should you need to move out of your home temporarily because of an insured event, like a fire (limits apply)

Essentials covers the basics like fire, flood and theft. Essentials is designed to cover basic home insurance needs and would suit, for example, someone just starting out in their own property.
 
Extra would be suitable if you're looking for more comprehensive cover against a wider range of risks. Extra offers a greater range of options and would suit, for instance, the needs of a well-established family household.

Restrictions:
This policy does not cover the following:
1. The first £150 for Essentials cover or the first £100 for Extra cover of compulsory excess on each claim (or for escape of water claims, the first £250 and in the event of subsidence, heave or landslip, the first £1,000 for buildings) plus any voluntary excess if you choose it.
2. Storm or flood damage to fences, gates and hedges for both Essentials and Extra cover.
3. Routine maintenance or wear and tear for both Essentials and Extra cover.
4. Money stolen from you home unless it was entered by force and violence for both Essentials and Extra cover.
5. Accidental damage to portable items like video cameras and hand held computer games, unless you've taken out optional contents extended accidental damage or personal possessions cover for Extra, or unless you've taken out optional personal possessions cover for Essentials.
6. If your home has been unoccupied for more than 60 consecutive days for Extra or 30 consecutive days for Essentials, we won't cover loss or damage caused by malicious acts, vandalism, theft, water or oil leaks, breakage of glass or sanitaryware or frost damage.
7. The cost of replacing any undamaged or unbroken item or parts of items forming part of a set, suite or other article of uniform nature, colour or design if damage occurs within a clearly identifiable area or to a specific part and it is not possible to match replacements for both Essentials and Extra cover.
Availability:
1. You don’t have more than 5 bedrooms or need more than £60,000 of contents cover. If you do, we may still be able to cover you, but you’ll need to call us.
2. You won’t be leaving the property unoccupied for more than 60 consecutive days.
