Why Not Opt For A Pre-Paid Currency Card ?

When you are going on holiday everyone wants to make the most of their trip. One way of doing this is to ensure that you organise your travel money properly, this year it is more important than ever as the pound is weaker which means your cash is unlikely to go as far as it did last summer.

A great way to ensure you are getting the most out of the money you saved for your holiday is by opting for a pre-paid currency card. There is not a massive uptake on these cards and research shows that just 3% of people have one, however they are a great way to withdraw money overseas.

The idea of these pre-paid currency cards is they can be loaded with currency and used at ATMís or to make payments in foreign countries. These cards are issued by MasterCard, Visa and Maestro. They come in all currencies and there are specific cards for both euros and US dollars. The majority of pre-paid currency card providers allow you to top up your card over the phone or online from wherever your holiday destination is, some companies even accept texts.

As with travel money, when you are depositing money onto your pre-paid currency card you have to convert sterling into whichever currency you need. This means you will be subject to the exchange rates offered by the provider, so it is a good idea to research which company has the best rates.

So as you can see pre-paid currency cards are an easy efficient way of getting value for money when you are abroad. But just remember like when purchasing any financial project do your research to ensure you get the best deal out there!
